KICD DIGITAL CONTENT CREATION EXPO

March 31st 2016 was a defining moment for the Digital content creators not only in Kenya but Africa as a whole. The event dubbed, the DIGITAL CONTENT CREATION EXPO hosted by KICD saw numerous stakeholders in the ICT industry come together to discuss the future of digital learning in Kenya.
Cabinet Secretary of ICT Hon. Joe Mucheru expressed the relevance of Digital Leaning in Kenya and insisted on the fact that there is no other option. Moreover, he insisted on the fact that the Kenyan government is completely committed to making this happen.
The event gave the content developers and innovators a chance to display what they have done and show where they were in the field as well as created an opportunity to network and grow in the industry.
From the event, three things were agreed upon; the need for an organization whose core responsibility would be to represent, add value and grow the Digital Content development companies to a Global Standard. Secondly, training on KICD Digital Standard for those interested. Lastly, the importance of digitizing content for publishers in a globally acceptable standard for their products to be acceptable beyond Kenyan boarders was emphasized.
Other speakers included Kytabu CEO Mr. Paul Mugambi, Kenya Publishers Association chairperson Mr. David Waweru, Safaricom Foundation Chairman Mr. Les Bailles and KICD Director Mr. John Kimotho.
